The Faculty of Mathematics was established in 2008. Among our faculty members are many distinguished researchers, including 15 invited speakers of the International Congress of Mathematicians. We have the highest concentration in Russia of strongly motivated students majoring in mathematics. We invite students interested in fundamental mathematics and in mathematical physics to the following programs and events. All programmes are conducted in English. For all of them, the student accommodation is almost free (ca. 20$/month).
Master of Science Programme in Mathematics
The programme is free to the best candidates who may receive merit-based scholarships. Applications open in November on a rolling basis. Application deadline is July 15. All applications submitted before February 28 will be considered for scholarships
Doctoral Programme in Mathematics
The programme takes four years. The scholarship is 30 000 rubles (ca. 500$) per month. Applications open in February
Math in Moscow
Short term study abroad programme, offered every semester, i.e. every Fall and every Spring
Research Experience in Mathematics (REM) and Student Exchange
You can work on a research project under the supervision of a distinguished mathematician for three weeks in the Summer, or arrange a longer visit in Fall or Spring in the framework of a student exchange program
Student Research Paper Competition in Mathematics
Research contributions are invited in all areas of fundamental mathematics or mathematical physics. Applications open in September.
Scientific advisors for the Doctoral, MSc, REM and Student Exchange programmes can be chosen from our faculty or any of its associated units and partners, including the following:
- Laboratory of Algebraic Geometry (scientific director F. Bogomolov)
- Laboratory of Cluster Geometry (scientific director M. Kazarian)
