I shall describe several methods to study groups of polynomial transformations of the affine space which are generated by a finite number of transformations.

This includes technics of reduction modulo a prime p, as well as methods from p-adic dynamics ; we shall describe these technics, and combine them with ideas coming from geometric group theory.
