Non-Archimedean analytic geometry

Non-Archimedean analytic geometry is an analog of complex analytic geometry over non-Archimedean fields, i.e., fields complete with respect to a non-Archimedean valuation. In spite of the fact that such fields are totally disconnected, non-Archimedean analytic spaces, which possess many of the topological properties of complex analytic spaces such as local path connectedness and even contractibility, exist and, in comparison with their complex analogs, are endowed with richer structures. The purpose of the course is to introduce non-Archimedean analytic spaces and to give a survey of their applications in several areas of mathematics (number theory, diophantine geometry, complex dynamics, complex geometry).
